{"id":979,"date":"2020-03-03T02:24:10","date_gmt":"2020-03-03T02:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/islamicsocietyballarat.org\/?page_id=979"},"modified":"2020-03-03T02:24:10","modified_gmt":"2020-03-03T02:24:10","slug":"five-pillars-of-islam","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/islamicsocietyballarat.org\/index.php\/five-pillars-of-islam\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Pillars of Islam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The most important Muslim practices are the Five Pillars of Islam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Five Pillars of Islam are the five obligations that every Muslim must satisfy in order to live a good and responsible life according to Islam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Five Pillars consist of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Shahadah<\/strong>: sincerely reciting the Muslim profession of faith<\/li><li><strong>Salat<\/strong>: performing ritual prayers in the proper way five times each day<\/li><li><strong>Zakat<\/strong>: paying an alms (or charity) tax to benefit the poor and the needy<\/li><li><strong>Sawm<\/strong>: fasting during the month of Ramadan<\/li><li><strong>Hajj<\/strong>: pilgrimage to Mecca <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why are they important?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Carrying out these obligations provides the framework of a Muslim&#8217;s life, and weaves their everyday activities and their beliefs into a single cloth of religious devotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter how sincerely a person may believe, Islam regards it as pointless to live life without putting that faith into action and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carrying out the Five Pillars demonstrates that the Muslim is putting their faith first, and not just trying to fit it in around their secular lives.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The most important Muslim practices are the Five Pillars of Islam.
